Between 12-14 February Frankfurt Book Fair New York (a business office of Frankfurter Buchmesse) and Publishing Perspectives (online trade magazine) organized their second invitational Childrenâs Books Salon in New York City. During this three-day event the participants got to know the US childrenâs book market and met almost 70 American professionals from the publishing industry.

This year we will participate at the Paris Book Fair (15-18 March) â for the first time with a national stand at the European Pavilion, stand K114. After Paris we are heading to Leipzig Book Fair (21-24 March), where you can find us in hall 4, stand D503. And last, but not least: Bologna Childrenâs Book Fair (1-4 April) in hall 29, stand C34-D33. In 2018 the Slovenian Book Agency supported 62 translations from Slovenian into 23 foreign languages. The top 5 languages for translations were German, Croatian, English, Czech and Italian. The 2019 tenders for support of translation and publication will be available from March on - we'll keep you updated!
Between 21st and 24th November the Slovenian Association of Literary Translators along with the Slovenian Book Agency organised a specialised translation seminar for translators from Slovene into German language. Eleven participants gained insight into the current state of Slovenian contemporary literature and the possibility to work with Slovenian authors, critics, publishers, lecturers and other agents in the field of books.
Childrenâs Books Publishers from around the World discovered the rich world of Slovenian Childrenâs Literature and IllustrationsIn late November the Slovenian Book Agency organised a specialised study trip â for foreign publishers of childrenâs and YA literature. 15 participants from 10 countries, editors of such renown publishing houses as the British Walker, German Moritz Verlag and French Actes Sud Junior, who stayed in Slovenia for three days during the Slovenian Book Fair, got familiar with trends in the Slovenian childrenâs literature and illustration, as well as with the country itself, since most of them havenât been to Slovenia before.
