Get to Know this Year’s Angelus Award Winner Goran Vojnović

One of the most successful Slovenian authors of the younger generation, Goran Vojnović, received the Angelus Central European Literary Award, annually awarded to works by Central European writers, whose work is translated into Polish. Vojnović received the award for his novel Moja Jugosławia / Yugoslavia, My Fatherland, translated by Joanna Pomorska and published by Sedno publishing house.

The annual award is conferred by the Polish city of Wroclaw to writers who write about important contemporary topics. It comes with a cheque for 150,000 Polish zloty (roughly EUR 33,000) for the author and 20.000 zloty (EUR 4,400) for the translator. Vojnović is the first Slovenian author to receive this important award.
