A fresh selection of the most interesting book reviews, interviews, videos and talks with Slovenian authors accessible online:

Ana Schnabl is a writer and journalist, the winner of the Best Debut award, who is currently working on her third book. This interview was made when her short story collection Disentangling was translated into German under the title Grün wie ich dich liebe grün (Folio Verlag, 2020, translated by Klaus Detlef Olof). The interview is in German.

Maja Gal Štromar is a writer and actress who published 13 literary works so far. Her first German translation is a novel Denk an mich, auch in guten Zeiten (Edition Converso, 2020, translated by Ann Catrin Bolton) about a complicated relationship between the protagonist and her father. Sebastijan Pregelj, a writer and historian, who writes for children as well as adults, is already very well know abroad. One of his latest translations is novel A Chronicle of Forgetting (Slovenian Writers' Association, 2019, translated by Rawley Grau). The story about a man who is battling dementia but still finds small joys in his everyday life convinced the jury of The Dublin Literary Award 2021, who longlisted him as »one of Slovenia’s finest writers«. Alma M. Karlin (1889-1950), the first female world traveller who travelled solo was also a renowned writer in her time. Neue Zürcher Zeitung recently published an article (in German) about this extraordinary personality.

Igor Plohl is the author of picture books series Roggie the lion, a passionate athlete who has to use a wheelchair after being involved in a bad accident. The books illustrated by Urška Stropnik Šonc and published by Pivec publishing house are now part of Every Story Matters (Making Books More Inclusive) EU project, where Slovenian Book Agency is one of the partners.
