- Original title: Kaj po univerzi?
The authors pose a question about the subordination of the contemporary university to capitalist domination and the role that the university should play in the development of free theoretical practice. From various viewpoints (“society of knowledge”, analysis of capitalist production processes and ideological formations, a country’s legal and political system, scientific practices), the authors analyse the gradual disintegration of the university as an autonomous institution and a haven of theory, and the formation of a school system subordinated to capital that produces employability, efficiency and usefulness. The work presents the ideological backgrounds and material conditions of this subordination, its mechanisms, and effects. The work thus offers an excellent critical analysis of the contemporary university and, at the same time, provides a reflection on the role of theory in contemporary society.
The authors of the texts are Luka Culiberg, Rastko Močnik, Primož Krašovec, Maja Breznik, Dragan Nikčević and Branko Bembič.
