With just a bit more than a month away our preparations for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2019 are well under way. This year you can visit the Slovenian national stand on the exact same spot as last year â hall 5.0, C103 â but we grew a bit bigger: in company of six Slovenian publishers with their individual meeting tables we will be joining us this year in our common aspirations for an intense promotion of Slovenian literature abroad.
Second half of 2019 brings some exciting Slovenian fiction in German, Italian and Spanish language as well as some new translations of childrenâs literature. The authors will be busy presenting the books all around Europe!
Every Story Matters (ESM), supported by the EU Creative Europe programme, is a project that consists of a close collaboration between 6 European partners from Flanders (Belgium), Slovenia, the Netherlands, Croatia, Germany and Portugal, who wish to increase the creation, availability and promotion of inclusive books for children and young adults in the EU and by doing so engage a broader and more diverse reading audience. The Slovenian partner of the project, which started on September 1 and will last until the end of 2022, is the Slovenian Book Agency.
17 guests from six different countries took part in a 3-day fellowship for international publishers, journalists and cultural managers, organised by the Slovenian Book Agency this August. In the light of the upcoming guest of honour role at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2022 most guests came from Germany.
13 translators from 9 countries took part in the 9th Translation Seminar of Slovenian Literature between 17 and 22 August in Sloveniaâs second largest city Maribor.
