Between 1 and 4 April the Slovenian Book Agency participated at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2019. The biggest Slovenian stand in Bologna so far occupied a space of 64m2 and highlighted those Slovenian illustrators, who have been selected for the main Illustrators’ Exhibition in the past years: Andreja Peklar, Maja Kastelic, Peter Škerl, Lila Prap, Alenka Sotler and this year's Ana Zavadlav, who also had a masterclass in the Illustrators' Survival Corner during the fair. Her huge cricket-illustration was the centre of attention and the most photographed part of our stand in the renovated hall 29.
Between 21 and 24 March the Slovenian Book Agency participated at the Leipzig Book Fair 2019: 19 events with 9 authors and 9 new titles in German as well as our national stand dubbed "The Slovenian Literary Forest" found much attention among the visitors. Slovenian Book Agency announces that The public call for the selection of cultural projects in the field of translation into foreign languages for 2019 (JR6–P–2019) is going to open on Friday 5 April 2019.
Two public tenders, Translations into foreign languages and Publications of Slovenian literature in German language, are scheduled to be published on 5th April 2019 on Book Agency's website. The deadline for applications will be 15 May. The overall budget of the tenders is 160.000 €, grants request up to 10.000 € are eligible.

In the perspective of our Guest of Honour appearances at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in 2021 and at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2022, the Slovenian Book Agency organizes yearly study-journeys for foreign publishers since 2015 in order to enhance the translational potential of Slovenian literature.This year’s fellowship will take place between 21-24/25 August and will host up to 10 international publishers and editors of fiction and non-fiction as well as journalists covering cultural topics and literary event managers/festival organizers.
The Central European Initiative in co-operation with the Slovene Writers’ Association issued a Call for Applications for the CEI fellowship for writers in residence for the year 2019 within the Vilenica International Literary Festival. The deadline for applications is 30th April 2019. The fellowship is endowed with a cash award of EUR 5,000 for a three-month stay in any of the Central European Initiative Member States, selected by the candidate.
