Slovenian contemporary literary classic Drago Jančar, who is also well known to international readers, is among Julian Barnes and Jonathan Franzen one of the nominees for prestigious russian Yasnaya Polyana Foreign Fiction Award, which recognizes the most significant foreign book of the year written in the 21st century, and its Russian translation.
Between 30 January and 1 February 2017, the Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) organized the first official meeting with the Administration of the Frankfurt Book Fair, represented by Mr Jürgen Boos (Director) and Mrs Simone Bühler (Head of the "Guest of Honour" programme), in Ljubljana.

The 22nd edition of the Croatian Sa(n)jam knjige (Dreaming Books) book fair, scheduled to take place until 11 December 2016 at the Dom hrvatskih branitelja (Croatian Defenders' Home), opened its doors on Thursday, 1 December 2016. Ljubljana is at the forefront of this year’s string of events. The regional programme titled Ljubljana bere – Ljubljana Reads is namely dedicated to the lively Slovenian capital.
Several Slovenian authors will visit Berlin and present their work throughout the month of December. The renowned Slovenian literary names about to grace the German capital with their presence include Anja Golob, Stanka Hrastelj, Mojca Kumerdej, Boštjan Videmšek and Davorin Lenko. During that time, the first ever Slovenian-German translation workshop is scheduled to take place within the frame of the Vice-Versa Programme, undertaken by the renowned German organisation Literarisches Coloquium Berlin (LCB), as well.
