On 28 October 2016, the Viennese cultural staple "Literaturhaus Wien" hosted the opening of the exhibition Alma & Anton: Svetovljanka sreÄa Meksikajnarja (Alma & Anton: A Cosmopolitan Woman Meets A Mexicano), where the authors â artists Zoran SmiljaniÄ and Jakob KlemenÄiÄ with storybook writer Marijan PuĆĄavec in tow â unveiled the graphic novel Alma M. Karlin: Svetovljanka iz province (Alma M. Karlin: A Provincial Cosmopolitan Woman; Stripburger, 2015) and the series Meksikajnarji 1-5 (Mexicanos 1-5; UMco, 2006-2016).
This year's edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair took place between 19 and 23 October, almost ten days after the regular date. After a lively weekend, when the fair is usually open to the general public, the string of literary events concluded on Sunday, 23 October, at 7:00 PM (19:00). The 2017 edition will return to its regular schedule. It will unfold between 11 and 15 October 2017. The Guest of Honour this time around? France.

(C116), kindly invites the interested public to attend the opening fair day, when the Slovenian State Secretary Damjana PeÄnik will attend the event in order to meet with the Director of the book fair to discuss the Slovenian bid for the guest of honour.
The Government Communication Office of the Republic of Slovenia has published a new issue of SINFO magazine. SINFO â SLOVENIAN INFORMATION is a bimonthly promotional magazine published in English. It features news from Slovenia on culture, science, business, sports and tourism. The newest issue (September/October 2016) was composed in collaboration with the Slovenian Book Agency (JAK) and is dedicated entirely to Slovenian literature.

Acclaimed Slovenian authors Drago JanÄar and Lila Prap are among the renowned international literary names invited to the 9th International Istanbul Poetry and Literature Festival (Uluslararası İstanbul Ćiir ve Edebiyat Festivali), scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey, between 28 September and 2 October 2016.
As part of the preparatory activities prior to the project "Slovenia â Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair", the Slovenian Book Agency will organize the first specialist translation seminar for translators of Slovenian literature into German. The two-day seminar is scheduled to take place between 13th and 16 August 2016 in Ljubljana and will be a precursor to the traditional Translation Seminar in Novo mesto.
