The author of the book is a renowned craftswoman (theartrose.com). Paper flowers spurred her imaginative creativity which intertwined handicraft knowledge, tradition and art. Her inspiration comes from nature. She makes both traditional and trendy bouquets, constantly upgrading her knowledge by using modern materials and new paper processing techniques. The aesthetic and picture-rich book showcases the procedures and techniques needed for making 33 different paper flowers (according to the seasons) in pictures and writing. We also learn about the materials and tools needed for the job. This manual will be of help to all paper flower makers – from experienced masters of design to complete beginners. The manual captures part of our cultural heritage, and is also useful as an excellent theoretical basis for paper flower making courses and other creative workshops in educational institutions and childcare. The book also features a web link or QR code, through which you can watch a short video showing the making of one of the paper beauties – the cosmos flower.

About the author

Matejka Javornik

Matejka Javornik encountered paper flower making at a handicraft workshop 14 years ago. She made her first bouquet there, but didn’t pay much attention to it. Two years later, when she read an article about paper flower making being part of our traditions and cultural heritage, she saw the added value in it, combining craftsmanship, our past and tradition. These are the things she values and respects. Walks in nature have always relaxed her, and now nature is the inspiration for her work. Her paper flowers are such a close approximation of the real thing that only touch betrays that these are flowers that do not wilt. Paper flowers do not require a lot of tools, but they do need a lot of time, precision and patience. She is passionate about getting people to decorate their homes with paper flowers again and wants to introduce them to this skill in her manual.
